A Registered Dietitian, or RD, is an individual who has been extensively trained and certified as an expert in dietetics, food, nutrition and related areas. They provide education on proper nutrition and supervise diet programs and food preparation operations. RD status is regulated and approved by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).


A Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist, or LD/N is regulated by each state individually. According to Florida’s licensure law “ No person may engage for remuneration in dietetics and nutrition practice or hold himself out as a practitioner of dietetics and nutrition practice unless a person is licensed in accordance with the state of Florida requirements”. Licensed dietitian/nutritionist in Florida should use the designation LD/N. They may use the words dietitian, licensed dietitian, nutritionist or licensed nutritionist.

Karen Beerbower

Karen Beerbower, MS, RDN, CEDRD, LD, F.iaedp is a licensed registered dietitian and a certified eating disorder dietitian. She holds a Master of Science degree in Medical Science and a nutritional pediatric fellowship from the Indiana University School of Medicine. She is the president of Nutritional Guidance, Inc. serving the community in private practice for over 20 years. She is the author of Setting Places and has provided nutritional expertise through articles, radio, television and public speaking. She has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Central Florida and the University of Evansville. Karen presently serves on the board of directors for the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp) and is an iaedp Approved Supervisor. She strives to bring her experience to others through clinical service and education.


Sabrina Fichera

Sabrina Fichera, MSH, RDN, LDN is a licensed and registered dietitian with a Masters of Science and Health with emphasis in nutrition from the University of North Florida. Her diverse background of patient care setting settings includes hospitals and outpatient care. Her extensive professional experience consist of working with eating disorders and behavioral health. In addition, her medical nutrition therapy experience includes diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, food allergies, and more. Sabrina provides individualized nutrition assessments, counseling and education for all life spans and ages. She takes enjoyment in helping individuals and families develop a healthy relationship with food. Sabrina is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Florida Dietetic Association.
